Alpha Brain vs Magic Mind TL;DR Summary

Alpha Brain and Magic Mind are dietary supplements designed to support your cognitive functions like mental energy, focus, productivity, and memory. The main difference, apart from their ingredients, is that Alpha Brain is taken in a capsule form, whereas Magic Mind comes as a drink mix shot.

Alpha Brain might give you better results for long-term stress reduction and memory retention thanks to Phosphatidylserine. On the other hand, Magic Mind focuses on improving your productivity and mental efficiency, with ingredients like caffeine, Cognizin, and turmeric contributing to that end.

While Alpha Brain costs half as much as Magic Mind, neither is cheap. Both products hide important dosage information—preventing us from seeing if ingredients are effectively and safely dosed. Our thoughts? More transparent and more effective nootropic supplements can be found with a little research.

About Alpha Brain and Magic Mind

Alpha Brain

Alpha Brain is one of the top-selling brain supplements in the U.S. It’ produced by Onnit and endorsed by influencers like Joe Rogan. Caffeine-free, Alpha Brain is said to support your brain function. Specifically:

  • Supports memory
  • Promotes focus
  • Promotes cognitive processing
  • Helps with the so-called “flow state” (for better productivity)

Don’t get this, the original Alpha Brain, confused with other versions of this product.

There is also Alpha Brain Instant available, which is an instant nootropic drink mix. It works similarly to Alpha Brain, the main difference is that you mix it and drink it, instead of taking capsules.

Another version is called Alpha Brain Black Label. This is also a supplement that comes in capsules, but its ingredients are completely different.

For this review, we’ll focus on the original Alpha Brain.

Magic Mind

Magic Mind is, in the words of its official website, “the World’s first productivity drink”. Intended to enhance your mental performance. Magic Mind is said to deliver the following benefits:

  • Sharper mind
  • Lower stress
  • Calm energy

This “concoction” has been founded by James Beshara, a best-selling author, investor, and entrepreneur from Texas.

James’ story on Magic Mind’s website explains his struggles with too much stress and a heart condition, partly aggravated by too much caffeine, leading him to seek for healthier alternatives. After about 10 years of research into supplements, he decided to make this drink with natural and safe ingredients for providing calm, lasting energy.

How well does it work? Inspecting the ingredient information should give us a clue!

Ingredients

Alpha Brain Ingredients

Alpha Brain contains ingredients like vitamin B6, Alpha GPC, Bacopa Monnieri, L-Theanine, L-Tyrosine, and more. Most of these are well-studied in regard to benefiting our brain health one way or another.

  • Vitamin B6 – 10 mg
  • Cat’s Claw Bark Extract – 350 mg
  • Onnit Flow Blend (containing L-Tyrosine, L-Theanine, Oat Straw Extract, Phosphatidylserine) – 650 mg
  • Onnit Focus Blend (Alpha GPC, Bacopa Monnieri, Toothed Clubmoss Huperzine A) – 240 mg
  • Onnit Fuel Blend (L-leucine, Pterostilbene) – 60 mg

Here’s the problem, though. As you can see, almost all of the ingredients in Alpha Brain are inside these blends—also known as proprietary blends.

Why is this a problem? Because, we don’t see the exact dose of every ingredient. Only the combined doses of ingredients within a blend.

Some ingredients could be ineffective due to low dosage, without us being able to tell. It’s a disappointing show by Alpha Brain.

Magic Mind Ingredients

Ingredients in Magic Mind are:

Magic Mind contains 55 mg of naturally occurring caffeine from matcha per shot. [3]

Magic Mind doesn’t share dosage information about its ingredients at all, which is even worse than Alpha Brain. With that said, the ingredients themselves look good. If they dosed correctly, you should see a degree of benefit, assuming you consume this product every day for some time.

Which Ingredient Formula Looks Better?

We can’t say either Alpha Brain or Magic Mind is good. But between the two, we would go with Magic Mind, because the ingredients themselves are better for cognitive function in our eyes, and there are more of them than in Alpha Brain. Still, the lack of ingredient dosage transparency makes us hesitant to recommend either one.

Customer Reviews

Both Alpha Brain and Magic Mind enjoy decent ratings online. Your best bet would be to give each one a try for one month and see which gives you best results—or better yet, check the more effective alternatives we recommend in the link below.

Pricing

Alpha Brain costs $69.90 for a one-time purchase on its official website (Onnit). The bottle lasts 45 days if you take the recommended serving of 2 capsules per day. The price goes down if you buy in bulk and/or subscribe to recurring delivery of the product.

Magic Mind costs $148.50 for 30 bottles (drink shots). Much like with its competitor, you can reduce the price somewhat by buying in bulk and/or subscribing to recurring delivery.

Final Word

Alpha Brain vs. Magic Mind: which one is better? We think Magic Mind is more likely to give you a boost in mental energy, focus, and other cognitive functions. Alpha Brain, on the other hand, might give you better results for long-term memory, and less in the productivity department. Alpha Brain costs less than Magic Mind, but neither is cheap.

In fact, we believe that at these price ranges, you can find more effective brain supplements, a.k.a, nootropics, than Alpha Brain and Magic Mind.
