Neuriva Brain Performance Review Summarized
PROS
- Coffee Fruit Extract shows great potential for brain function
- Comes in the form of capsules, gummies, and liquid shots
CONS
- Price
- Misses a lot of the key nootropic ingredients
- Average formula
- Only two main ingredients
SUMMARY:
Neuriva Brain Performance is one of Schiff’s flagship supplements. It is designed to improve cognitive functions, memory, focus, and overall learning speed. Its formula consists of only two main ingredients – Coffee Fruit Extract and Phosphatidylserine.
What makes Neuriva unique is that it comes in various forms and versions. You can find it in the 3 different forms – capsules, gummies, or liquid shots, and in 4 four different versions – Neuriva Original, Neuriva Plus, Neuriva De-Stress, and Neuriva Brain+Energy.
Out of the four, the most popular and hyped is undoubtedly Neuriva Plus. However, it is also the most expensive one.
When it comes to brain performance, despite its great marketing, Neuriva performs like an average supplement at best. Out of the two main ingredients, only phosphatidylserine is well-researched and with proven brain benefits. Even then, it is slightly underdosed.
High price, average ingredient list, and the fact that it misses most of the other key nootropic ingredients didn’t make us too ecstatic about Schiff’s Neuriva Brain Performance. In our opinion, it doesn’t live up to the hype and there are better choices on the market for less money.

What is Neuriva?
Neuriva is a supplement developed to boost cognitive functions and brain performance. It consists of two all-natural, GMO-free nootropic ingredients – Coffee Fruit Extract and Phosphatidylserine.
The proclaimed benefits of these ingredients are enhanced memory, improved focus and concentration, and overall learning ability.
There are two versions of Neuriva Brain Performance:
- Neuriva Original
- Neuriva Plus
Neuriva Original contains only Coffe Fruit Extract and Poshpatdyserine, while Neuriva Plus also includes Vitamins B6, B9 (Folate or Folic Acid) B12. B-vitamins are beneficial for promoting cell health, boosting energy levels, and supporting digestion, nerve, and brain functions.
Also, Neuriva Plus contains a double dose of Coffee Fruit Extract. Instead of the 100mg that you will find in Neuriva Original, there is 200mg in the Neuriva Plus version. Neuriva Plus does offer more than Original. However, for a higher price.
What is great about Neuriva is the flexibility it offers on how you want to take it. You can find Neuriva in the form of capsules and flavored gummies. Also, there are Neuriva flavored liquid shots, designed to taste good and to boost your energy levels.
All versions of Neuriva, except the liquid shots, are caffeine-free. This means that if you are sensitive to caffeine, Neuriva shouldn’t cause you any issues.
To determine how good Neuriva actually is, let’s take a thorough look at its ingredient list. This will help us evaluate how effective the ingredients are.
So let’s get started and see for ourselves whether the Neurivas’s benefits are science-backed and if manufacturers’ claims were trustworthy.
Ingredients – What’s Inside Neuriva?
As already stated, only two ingredients are responsible for the cognitive benefits of Neuriva – Coffee Fruit Extract and Phosphatidylserine.
- Coffee Fruit Extract
Since coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world, probably everyone heard of coffee beans. However, don’t get them mistaken for coffee fruit since they are not the same thing.
Coffee fruit is a small, round fruit that grows on the coffee plant. Inside the fruit lie the seeds (coffee beans), which are later used for making coffee. Once the beans are removed from the fruit, they go into further processing, while the fruit’s body usually gets thrown away.
However, although considered a waste for a long time, the research shows that coffee fruit is actually a source of valuable nutrients. Often, it gets attributed to various health benefits such as immunity support, protection from oxidative stress, and cognitive and brain benefits.
Because of the latter, coffee fruit extract found its place in Neuriva Brain Performance. Supposedly, the coffee fruit is beneficial for the protection of the brain cells and improving cognitive functions. It raises the level of a protein called a brain-derived neurotrophic factor, also known as BDNF. BDNF is known to strengthen connections between brain cells and encourage the growth of new neurons.
However, these claims need more clinical trials to fully confirm these benefits. Indeed, some studies do confirm that coffee fruit extract increases the BDNF in the brain. For example, in this study, 100mg of coffee fruit extracts was used on healthy individuals. It showed good results and caused an increment of plasma BDNF by 143%.
This indicates that there is a great potential for the coffee fruit extract to improve brain health and modulate BDNF. However, larger clinical studies are needed to fully confirm these claims. For now, there is not enough data to do so, but coffee fruit extract shows great potential.
- Phosphatidylserine
Phosphatidylserine is a compound naturally found in high amounts in the brain and it contributes to normal brain function and cognition.
It can be consumed with a proper diet as well. The natural phosphatidylserine-rich source is the fish. However, even though supplementation is not necessary since the body produces phosphatidylserine by itself, supplementation can be of major benefit. Especially for the elderly.
Phosphatidylserine supplementation shows an increment of cognitive capacity and memory. To prevent the cognitive decline of elders, a daily dose of 100mg of phosphatidylserine, 3 times a day is recommended. This makes a total of 300mg a day. Even the dose of 100mg a day may bring some benefits, but much lesser than with the higher dose.
For the kids and adolescents, in the studies, a dose of 200mg was used with the goal of attention improvement. On the other hand, the doses between 200mg and 400mg showed the best result for the adults.
This means that the dose of 100mg of Phosphatidylserine found in Neuriva may be too small to give you any noticeable benefits.
Our Commentary on Neuriva’s Ingredients
Neuriva’s formula looks decent. However, it contains only two main ingredients. More doesn’t always mean better, but in our opinion, Neuriva misses a lot of key compounds that are great for boosting brain performance.
Among Phosphatildyserine and Coffe Fruit Extract, we would gladly see Lion’s Mane Mushroom, L-Theanine, and L-Tyrosine on the ingredient list. It would give Neuriva a more balanced formula with greater cognitive benefits.
As far as the current Neuriva formula goes, Phosphatidylserine is a great ingredient. It is well-researched and shows good results. Especially for the elders.
However, since there are only two nootropic ingredients in Neuriva, we would be much happier if the doses were higher. The recommended doses of phosphatidylserine in the studies were 2-3x greater than the amount Neuriva contains.
This makes us question whether this dose will be enough. 100mg is not too bad and it will give you some benefits. However, higher doses would be more effective. We understand that higher doses would mean higher production expenses. But in our opinion, phosphatidylserine can’t deliver its full potential with this kind of dose.
The second main ingredient, Coffee Fruit Extract, needs more evidence to support its claimed brain benefits. For now, the studies look encouraging.
However, we cannot say with certainty how good it is. The study provided in this review does confirm its effect on increasing BDNF levels in the brain, which is important for cognitive functions. However, on a larger scale, more research needs to be done to confirm Coffee Fruit Extract is an effective nootropic compound.
Until then, we can’t say Neuriva is one of the best brain supplements we’ve seen in terms of formula effectiveness and quality.
User Reviews
With over 13 thousand global ratings on Amazon, and an average score of 4.3 out of 5, Neuriva Plus has more than a great reputation.
Not much different is with Neuriva Original. It has an average score of 4.2 out of 5. However, compared to Neuriva Plus, noticeably fewer people rated it. This means that Neuriva Plus is more popular among customers and more people decided to purchase it than the Neuriva Original.
Whether that is due to the 2-time the amount of Coffee Fruit Extract or the additional B complex vitamins, we are not entirely sure. But one thing is for sure – Neuriva is well received among customers and has great user reviews.
Pricing & Other Things to Consider
Depending on the version of Neuriva you decide on, the official Schiff Vitamins site sells it for $29.99 to $49.95.
Neuriva Original capsules, a basic Neuriva version with only Coffee Fruit Extract and Phosphatidylserine, is the cheapest out of the bunch. It costs $32.99 and contains 30 capsules, equivalent to one month’s supply.
On the other hand, Neuriva Plus capsules are noticeably more expensive – selling for $49.95. Compared to the Neuriva Original, Neuriva Plus contains double the amount of Coffee Fruit Extract (200mg), as well as additional B vitamins. Is the higher price tag worth it? We don’t think it is – most people already get enough B vitamins through their diet. Considering it is missing many of the best nootropic ingredients, Neuriva Plus isn’t quite on par with the market-leading nootropic supplements.
There is also a slightly cheaper version of Neuriva Plus in the form of gummies. It sells for $44.99 and comes in the strawberry flavor. Not only it is more delicious than the regular capsules, but for less money, you get the same formula as the Neuriva Plus capsules. However, one bottle contains 50 gummies, which is enough for 25 servings, while Neuriva Plus contains 30 servings.
There are also Neuriva Brain Performance De-Stress capsules and Neuriva Brain+Focus liquid shots. Although they have a similar name as the products above, their formula is different. And to put it simply, not as good. Though they are noticeably cheaper.
Neuriva De-Stress is sold for $29.99 and instead of the phosphatidylserine, contains 200mg of L-theanine and 10mg of French Melon Concentrate (Cucumis Melo) Fruit. An ingredient that doesn’t really do much for stress at all!
On the other hand, Neuriva Brain + Energy liquid shots are sold for $31.99. They come in two flavors – Strabbery Lemonade or Tropical Flavour. Its formula consists of 100mf Coffee fruit extract, 150mg of caffeine, and 500mcg of B12 Vitamin.
Side Effects
For healthy individuals, Neuriva is unlikely to cause any negative or harmful side effects.
Although rare, there are some indications that show that phosphatidylserine could negatively affect your sleep and cause possible stomach upset. This is the case with doses much higher than those found in the Neuriva, so Neuriva should be safe.
That said, we still think it’s best to talk to your medical professional first to find out whether Neuriva is right for you. Especially if you have any conditions.
Dosage Instructions
The directions for using Neuriva are to take 1 capsule (or 2 gummies) per day.
The label doesn’t say clearly whether to take Neuriva with food or on an empty stomach. This indicates that it’s fine to take Neuriva whenever you’d prefer, as long as you take it consistently at the same time every day.
Conclusion to Neuriva Brain Performance REVIEW
Neuriva has a great reputation among some customers. However, in our opinion, the high price and average formula with only two ingredients (of which only one is well-researched) didn’t live up to the hype. Neuriva is far from a bad brain supplement. But considering the reputation and its price, it’s also far from the best either.
For the price they’re asking, there are definitely better options on the market right now.
